Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urges the Ukraine conflict to be resolved through a ceasefire and diplomacy. Peace, harmony, and security around the world require concrete and collective action. This was stated by Modi during the first G-20 working session on Food and Energy Security in Bali. Reminding the world of the horrors of the Second World War, the Prime Minister said it is our turn to take the path of peace.

Modi meets G-20 leaders, attends dinner hosted by Joko WidodoClimate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, Ukrainian developments, and the global problems associated with them have wreaked havoc on the world economy and supply chains around the world. We are responsible for creating a new world order for the post-COVID era. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that when the G20 meets next year in the holy land of Buddha and Gandhi, all will agree to convey a strong message of peace to the world.

PM Modi said India ensured food security for its 1.3 billion citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, food grains were supplied to many countries. Food security is also affected by the shortage of fertilizer. Fertilizer shortages today are tomorrow’s food crises, for which there is no remedy. Maintaining the supply chain for both manure and food grains requires mutual agreement. For sustainable food security, India promotes natural farming and re-popularizes traditional food grains like millets.

India’s energy security is also imperative for global growth, and the Prime Minister opposes any restrictions on energy supplies. Ensure the stability of the energy market, he said. In response to Western countries’ calls against Russian oil and gas purchases, PM Modi made these remarks. Alongside the summit, PM Modi held brief discussions with world leaders. On the margins of the G-20 Leaders’ Summit in Bali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Joe Biden and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

Underlining the importance of the G-20 being able to bring together major economies, PM Modi said that the G-20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation. In addition to tackling the ongoing climate, energy, and food crises, strengthening global health architecture, and promoting technological transformation, the G-20 is working together to restore sustainable and inclusive growth.

India will speak for other developing countries during its Presidency, Mr Modi said. A key role of the G-20 is to assist vulnerable countries, support inclusive development, strengthen economic security and global supply chains, and provide solutions to challenges such as climate change, pandemics, economic fragility, and poverty reduction. Thanking President Widodo and President Biden for their commitment to G-20 work under India’s presidency.

PM Modi also met UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. PM Modi will brief the G20 leaders on India’s evolving G20 priorities on the sidelines of the Summit. In Bali, PM Modi attended the G20 dinner hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo. After the dinner, Mr Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged courtesies.
